Double opt-in = Subscribers have to click on a link inside of the initial email before they’re officially added to your email list. (In Kit, once they do, they show up as “Confirmed” subscribers. If they haven’t clicked, they’ll show up under “Unconfirmed” subscribers.
Single opt-in = They will be added to your email list whether or not they take any action on an email. (They will show up as “Confirmed”)

Access the Incentive Email Settings
- 0:56: To configure the incentive email:
- Navigate to your Form or Landing Page in Kit.
- Click on Settings, then select the Incentive tab.
Default Incentive Email Setup
- 1:06: By default, Kit sends an incentive email to new subscribers.
- This email serves as the double opt-in confirmation.
- 1:17: Always edit the incentive email to reflect your brand and remind subscribers why they signed up.
- Example: Include details about who you are and what they signed up for.
Double Opt-In Email Configuration
- 1:59: The incentive email includes a button with a URL field labeled
{{ confirm_url }}
. You have two options when they click that button: redirect to a URL, or initiate a download.
Redirect Option
- 2:18: To redirect subscribers to a branded confirmation page, enter the destination URL in the After Confirming, Redirect To field.
- Example: A custom page on your website that says, “Thanks for confirming!” (Here’s my page, for reference)

3:10: Kit's default confirmation page promotes Kit instead of your business. I recommend redirecting subscribers to a branded page.

Download Option
- 4:19: To deliver a freebie (e.g., an eBook or PDF):
- Upload the file directly in the incentive settings.
- Alternatively, redirect subscribers to a download page after they confirm.
Single Opt-In Configuration
- 6:10: To bypass the double opt-in process while still using the incentive email:
- Select the Auto Confirm New Subscribers option.
- Subscribers will be added to your email list without needing to click the confirmation button.
Benefits of Single Opt-In with Incentive Emails
- 5:33: Using the incentive email ensures subscribers repeatedly receive the freebie, even if they sign up multiple times.
